October marks the 30th anniversary for NSCA & TRA-CAL, a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) specializing in test and measurement equipment and services in the aerospace, commercial, and defense industry.
From a small office in Rockville to our current location in Gaithersburg, Maryland, which houses our sales operation and metrology lab, NSCA & TRA-CAL has provided innovative solutions to our customers and partners. NSCA Technologies & Tra-Cal Lab are Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses (SDVOSB) made up of more than 70% veterans and disadvantaged people.
As we celebrate our 30th anniversary, we would like to take the time to thank our employees, customers, vendors, families, and supporters throughout our community. Each of you has enriched this journey richer through relationships and the positive change that we have created together. In this spirit, we celebrate our 30th anniversary by supporting our veterans by matching donations to Fisher House Foundation.
To honor our veterans this November, NSCA & TRA-CAL will be matching donations to Fisher House Foundation, whose program provides “a home away from home” for families of patients receiving medical care at major military and VA medical centers. The homes, located around the world, provide temporary free lodging so families can be close to their loved ones during a medical crisis. Since inception, the program has saved military and veterans’ families an estimated $407 million in out-of-pocket costs for lodging and transportation.

Fisher House Guest Testimonial
Senior Airman Heather Carter was looking forward to a long military career when disaster struck. Injured in a freak accident, Heather’s left leg was badly shattered, and her life was changed forever.
In her words: “I had been such an extrovert; I loved sports and loved life. Then the accident, and my life changed overnight, and so did I. The chronic pain forced me to isolate. I became a hermit. I was hooked on meds. Depression became rampant. And yes, I thought heavily about suicide.”
After 14 grueling surgeries over four years, Heather and her doctors made the tough decision to amputate her leg. Her mom, Vicky Carter, quit her job to be at her daughter’s side, and took on the role of caregiver and advocate during Heather’s rehabilitation process. They stayed at a Fisher House for more than a year.
Describing her time at Fisher House, Vicky said, “In your darkest hours, when you think you have nowhere to turn, Fisher House offers a glimmer of hope. It was like a hand reaching down and pulling you up. You knew it was going to be okay.”
